From Madrid-Barajas to city center
From Madrid-Barajas airport to city center
From the airport you will have to travel to the city center in order to get to Ávila. The easiest way is through the metro or RENFE (Spanish Railway) system.
Follow the metro station inside the airport Barajas. The metro ticket costs around 4,00 € and can be purchased in blue ticket machines. It takes 42 minutes from the airport to arrive at Chamartín (train station) and 55 minutes to arrive at Méndez Álvaro (bus station) with the metro. You will have to take the metro line 8 to Nuevos Ministerios, and then change to metro line 10 (to Chamartín) or 6 (to Méndez Álvaro).

The railway station Cercanías is at Terminal 4 at the Barajas airport. Follow the indicated signs with the logotype Cercanías and purchase a ticket to Chamartín (train station) or Méndez Álvaro (bus station) at the grey and red colored ticket machines. The ticket costs around 1,50 € and takes 12 minutes to arrive at Chamartín or 30 minutes to arrive at Méndez Álvaro. The trains leave every 30 minutes.
